Special visit from Brussels
Mr Blížkovský engaged in discussions with diverse staff members and students: Jeroen van Wijck and Wai Feersma Hoekstra at the Digital Society School illustrated how AUAS works on urban and regional challenges with students from across Europe and abroad.
Rector Geleyn Meijer talked about the importance of the connection between education, research and organisations, such as AUAS’s collaborations with the city of Amsterdam and others, driving regional innovation and resilience.
With Professor Harry van Vliet, author of the book about impact of practice-based reseach: ‘Preliminary Thoughts’: on impact, valorisation and continuous effects’, Mr Blížkovský held a dialogue on practice-based research, focusing on its tangible impact and long-term societal value.
From the U!REKA European University network, both Dymphna Snijders Blok, AUAS institutional coordinator for U!REKA and Maren Pannemann, EU Liaision at AUAS, shared the vision of our European University for inclusive, future-ready education.
We could identify many shared interests, especially innovation methods to tackle climate challenges and boost the sustainable transition.
This visit underscores Universities of Applied Sciences growing role in Europe as hubs for impactful research, education, and innovation, contributing to a sustainable and inclusive future. Brussels places great emphasis on the innovation methods in the regions, which connect research and education with local challenges and solutions. AUAS illustrated how applied research and education empower regions to thrive. We prepare our students with future-proof skills, to contribute to the broader European ambitions like 100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030.
We are looking forward to continue this collaboration.
