Effective communication in multicultural academic settings requires understanding diverse communication styles, cultural nuances, and strategies for overcoming potential barriers. This workshop will explore key communication theories, including high-context vs. low-context cultures, verbal and nonverbal communication differences, and strategies for fostering inclusive communication. The session will consist of one hour of theoretical training and 30 minutes of interactive exercises to apply key concepts in practice.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
Identify and analyse the cultural differences in communication styles and their impact on academic interactions.
Implement strategies to improve communication effectiveness in multicultural environments, emphasising inclusive language and awareness of nonverbal cues.
Develop effective strategies to promote intercultural dialogue and collaboration in educational settings.
