Multi-class: social class, culture and first-generation students in higher education

This session is based on two research tracks we have worked on over the past few years. On the one hand, the Multiclass project, which focused on making multicultural classrooms in higher education more inclusive. On the other hand, we will incorporate results from our research on first-generation students—students whose parents did not obtain a higher education degree. We aim to offer insight into how social class influences culture(s) of students in higher education and how this might increase social inequalities instead of reducing them.
