Nearly 90 participants got acquainted with the benefits of international cooperation in the alliance of European universities U!REKA, of which VŠB-TUO is a member.

Opening with an international guest

The program was launched by Dr. Sam Illingworth from Edinburgh Napier University, who presented his university’s approach to staff development, 2 selected courses offered to ENU employees and stressed the benefits of cooperation in the alliance U!REKA.

The European University Project

His presentation was followed by Marcela Maturová from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, who explained how VŠB-TUO, thanks to its membership in U!REKA, strengthens international cooperation, promotes research, mobility and modern forms of teaching.

“Thanks to the alliance, we have established cooperation with European universities, we support integration and joint projects,” said Maturová.

Emphasis on sustainability and innovation in teaching

Interdisciplinary courses focused on sustainable development and smart cities have the potential to involve a wide academic community – both students and educators.

New educational programs: Change Drivers, BIP and COIL

Jakub Němec from the Department of International Relations introduced the training program Change Drivers, which develops competences in areas such as sustainability, digitization or incubation. The training will take place in full-time, online and at international events. Two specific programs of international cooperation were also introduced – Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) and Collaborative Online Intensive Learning (COIL), which were discussed by Lenka Heczková and Eva Kovářová from the Faculty of Economics.

The first U!REKA Local EduForum at VSB-TUO concluded with a discussion of the participants. We thank everyone present and look forward to the next time! The next EduForum will take place at the annual meeting of partners in Helsinki.
